Returning to Work

Employers Receive Answers to
COVID-Related Questions

On July 22, employment law expert Elizabeth Blanco presented a webinar about helping employees safely return to in-office work during the COVID pandemic.

Ms. Blanco clarified the latest EEOC and OSHA guidelines regarding vaccinations, mask mandates and workplace safety plans. She also emphasized the importance of complying with state and local regulations, as these can be more stringent than federal rules. Also addressed was the proper way to gather employee vaccination data and the option of offering vaccine incentives to staff.

The key will be for employers to make effective business decisions that will keep workers protected and comply with all governmental guidelines—without jeopardizing employee morale.

Ms. Blanco is an employment law attorney with Sessions, Israel & Shartle. She provides practical advice to help companies avoid legal liability during the ongoing pandemic.

Take Your Work Seriously and Yourself Lightly!

In many places across the country, workers are finally returning to their offices after more than a year. There are bound to be some snafus, but a little bit of humor can go a long way in facilitating a smooth transition.

It Could Be Worse

While there may be an awkward moment or two, it can’t be as bad as the one suffered by this poor chap who got lost on his way to a client’s office:

Before I’d realized it, I’d opened a fire door out onto the roof. It shut behind me with a resolute “thunk!” — leaving me no option but to walk around the roof trying to find another way in.

Turning a corner, I spotted my work colleagues and the client all looking at me in bewilderment through the windows of their meeting room. They had to open a window for me to climb in, in front of everyone.

Awkward.

Here’s hoping you never lose your way!
