Seasonal Pranksters on the Prowl

Mischief is a Halloween tradition that dates back to the holiday’s earliest years.

Some of the more traditional pranks — soaping windows, TP-ing houses, smashing pumpkins — create a relatively harmless but annoying mess. (If you’re feeling particularly wicked, you could try the caramel onions trick.)

Let’s look at some Halloween hijinks that go a step further, often with comical results.

Beer Belly

For a Halloween office party, one clever coworker dressed as a head-to-toe alien, but with a catch: he had a plastic tube running from his mouth, under his mask, down his costume sleeve, and through a hole in his glove.

By sticking his finger in some unsuspecting partygoer’s beer, he could drain the cup.

Costume Drama

Recent surveys indicate that only about 20% of American office workers dress up for Halloween.

Those who do usually acknowledge that the costume shouldn’t be too scary. (A demonic clown get-up may very well get you sent home.)

Of course, fright is in the eye of the beholder. Consider, for instance, the bloody hand in the office refrigerator, the skeleton in the supply closet…

…or the business associate dressed as a werewolf.

The Unwitting Troublemaker

Not all Halloween mischief is intentional. A BuzzFeed follower who visited the Fright Fest haunted maze at Six Flags got so frightened she couldn’t stop screaming.

That is, until one of the scare actors screamed back at her, “Shut up! I can’t take anymore!”

He then ripped off his mask and walked out.

“My screaming literally made a man quit his job,” she said.
