Bid Goodbye to Crazy 2023!

In a year when the U.S. government ordered UFOs to be shot down over Alaska and Miss Universe donned a 30-lb head ornament shaped like the moon, anything was possible, right?

Here’s a look at some of the other crazy moments in 2023:

Grim Prospects?

In May 70-year-old Prince Charles was (finally!) crowned “the undoubted king” of Britain amid much pomp and pageantry inside Westminster Abbey. But who was that lurking in the background?

Attentive viewers caught on camera a spooky cloaked figure skulking around during the coronation, and his presence immediately went viral. Clad in a hooded black robe and carrying a staff, the figure was seen moving beneath the Rood Screen of the abbey during the ceremonies.

Speculation regarding the identity of the ominous visitor ran rampant. A coven of witches had previously announced their intention to perform a ritual of their own during the ceremony to ensure good weather and health f r the new monarch.

Some speculators agreed it must have been a witch, while others determined it was the Grim Reaper himself. Westminster officials later identified the figure as a “verger,” a lay member of the abbey community who assists with religious services.

That Would Be a “Nyet”

Also in May of this year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for his role in alleged war crimes in Ukraine.

He risks arrest if the Russian president sets foot in any of the ICC’s 123 member countries. But whether Putin or his senior Russian officials will ever see the inside of a gulag remains uncertain.

The Kremlin has roundly rejected allegations that its troops have committed actionable transgressions in Ukraine.

Steer Clear of These Guys!

In August 2023, California regulators approved the 24/7 operation of two robotaxi services, Cruise and Waymo, throughout San Francisco. The taxi companies were given the green light even though their driverless cars have caused accidents, blocked emergency vehicles, and increased the city’s traffic congestion.

(Check out the video below to see one TV reporter’s wild ride in a Waymo.)

In October, GM-owned Cruise was forced to cease operations, and its license was suspended following a barrage of collisions and other safety incidents.

“The Truth Is Out There”

In September, Mexican journalist and ufologist Jaime Maussan presented the bodies of two purported aliens before the Mexican Congress, claiming the creatures are “not part of our terrestrial evolution.”

Maussan said the extraterrestrial bodies were recovered six years ago in Cusco, Peru. Carbon-14 testing by the National Autonomous University of Mexico dates the alien corpses as 700 to 1,800 years old.

Both displayed shriveled gray bodies with elongated heads and three fingers on each hand, resembling ET from the 1982 Stephen Spielberg movie.

Congressional members debated whether the language of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) should be changed to recognize Mexico as “the first nation to formally acknowledge the presence of alien life ever existing on Earth.”

Scientists have decried Maussan’s presentation as an elaborate hoax. Meanwhile, the Pentagon still has not released photos of the three UFOs shot down over Alaska last February.

Maybe next year.

Have a Happy,
Safe & Productive 2024!
